Uh… Who’s Bob?

As you may have guessed stumbling across this site, Bob isn’t a who but rather a what. Bob is a red banana plant currently being grown in the expansive maple syrup producing region of the world – Canada.

Why the Name Bob?

Well you see Bob is actually an acronym for Big ‘Ol’ Banana. More specifically Bob is a Ensete ventricosum commonly referred to by the following names: Abyssinian banana, pseudo-banana, and wild banana, among others.

What’s Bob’s Story?

Bob’s story is developing right now. Starting in 2026, this site will be a place to log, share, and record Bob’s growth and development. Along the way we’ll go bananas for bananas learning (together) plenty of tasty facts and sundry about Bob.
